Reiki is a Japanese word (pronounced Ray-key). In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was developed and practiced in Japan by a Japanese Buddhist named Mikao Usui. Since originating in Japan, Reiki has been adapted and used in varying cultural traditions all over the world! In addition, Reiki is a natural healing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation. It is a gentle, noninvasive, hands-on holistic healing practice, by which the practitioner is said to channel energy into another person by means of touch to activate natural healing processes. Most notably, scientific research has validated Reiki, which provides the body and mind with an innate ability to heal itself.
